Amlder:
WythnosolOur volunteer days happen most Tuesdays around and north of Brecon and Ystradgynlais. With occasional meetings on other days of the week.
Nature reserves we look after include:
Drostre Wood, Cae Pwll y Bo, Ystradfawr, Y Byddwn, Trewalkin Meadow, Wern Plemys, Vicarage Meadows, Allt Rhongyr, Darren Fawr, Cae Lynden, Pen y Waun, Cae Eglwys, Craig y Rhiwarth, Glasbury Cutting, Cae Bryntywarch, Llandefaelog Wood, Coed Dyrysiog, Pwll-y-Wrach
Tasks might include:
- Spring: path clearance, fence work, site checks, access work, woodland glade management.
- Summer: path clearance, fence management, site checks and surveys, meadow management (Cutting, ragwort pulling, bracken control), invasive species management, access work, bracken control.
- Autumn: coppicing, woodland management, hedge laying, habitat creation, access work, path clearance, pond maintenance, Rhos Pasture and grasslands management (mowing, scrub control and tree pulling).
- Winter: access work, coppicing, woodland management, habitat creation, Rhos Pasture and grasslands management (scrub control and tree pulling).
If you are volunteering to join in with practical work parties on the reserves, on receipt of the Registration Form, you will be sent a work party programme for your local area with all necessary information. You can then join in with any or all of the work parties.
