Elliott Jones, a regular Wildlife Watch member at the Welsh Wildlife Centre in Cilgerran, has just completed his Kestrel Award after more than a year’s work and activities.

The Kestrel Award is an environmental award scheme run by The Wildlife Trusts for members of Wildlife Watch who are over the age of eight.  To complete the award participants need to complete four challenges: ‘Create it!’, Record it!’, ‘Do it!’ and ‘Shout about it!’.  These challenges can be worked on either independently or through activities with a Wildlife Watch group.  Elliott completed artwork, poetry, film making and a nature diary in order to complete the award. Readers may also remember that he and his family walked the Ceredigion coast path, litter picking and raising money for The Wildlife Trust of South & West Wales.

We are so proud of this inspiring boy and want to celebrate his achievement and long term commitment to support and protect the environment. Elliott and his brother Mattie are also involved in the Wales Stand for Nature Project based in New Quay at the Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre. Well done and keep up the good work boys!

Elliott’s next challenge with Wildlife Watch will be the Nature Ranger Award, which requires him to do an in-depth study on something wildlife/conservation themed of his own choosing for six months then submitting a report for assessment.
