Remembering Jeff Curtis

Remembering Jeff Curtis

Remembering our friend Jeff Curtis.

It is with great sadness that we hear of the passing of Jeff Curtis.

Jeff volunteered with The Wildlife Trust of South for over 40 years.  He was instrumental in organising the original Cardiff local group in the 1980s and became a Glamorgan Wildlife Trust (predecessor of WTSWW) Council member in 1994.

Jeff was a good botanist, a keen lepidopterist and avid birdwatcher, spending many hours looking for Bittern in local reedbeds.  He also led wildlife walks around Cardiff and Vale in the 1980s and 90s, many on Lavernock nature reserve for which he was later Voluntary Warden.

Jeff gave his time generously to help protect and preserve the natural environment. He was dedicated to supporting the wildlife, habitats and qualities that make our nature reserves special.

His enthusiasm and commitment for the natural world made a lasting impression on fellow volunteers, staff and reserve visitors.

Jeff will be greatly missed. His contribution to nature conservation and the memories shared with those who worked alongside him will remain.

Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with his family and friends at this sad time.
